Help - Citation page

Help contents

You can use the Cite this link on any full record page in History Study Centre to automatically generate a citation for inclusion in your paper.

The Citation page includes a citation for the relevant item styled according to the guidelines in the MLA Handbook for Writers of Research Papers, published by the Modern Language Association of America.

The Citation type information at the top of the page indicates the document type assigned to the item which determines how the citation is styled e.g. newspaper article. The relevant sections of the MLA handbook are also listed.

You can highlight the citation and copy and paste it into a document or email. Alternatively, use the Edit Citation form to manually edit or add any missing information and generate a revised version of the citation.

A note may appear below the automatically generated citation indicating any additional information which may be required to provide a more complete citation e.g. edition information.

Click on the Show edit citation form to view fielded data for the citation. You can edit the information in these fields as necessary (e.g. format of author names) or add missing information. Click the Update Citation button to re-generate the citation with the new details.

Note: you can click the Restore Defaults button to revert to the automatically generated citation.
